There are so many features on Etsy to help you improve your shop. Shop Sections are great because they allow you to organize and compartmentalize your listings by style, color, size, the kind of item, etc. They can be edited, rearranged, and deleted easily, giving you more personalization for your store. Let’s look at some reasons why you should utilize Shop Sections!

1. To Make it Easy for Shoppers to Browse

Shop Sections allow your online visitors to easily look around your product selection. For example, if someone visits my store to look for geometric earrings, they can simply select “Earrings” on the left side to save time. I also occasionally paste a link back to a Section at the bottom of a relevant listing in my Etsy store. You can check to see that shoppers are browsing your Sections by viewing your Shop Stats, which will show you when they are clicked on.

2. To Help You Stay Organized

They are also a quick and easy way to streamline the maintenance of your Etsy shop. If you are searching for a particular item listing in your store, use the Sections to narrow the list down. In this way the feature is very useful for sellers, in addition to buyers as we just discussed.

3. To Quickly Share on Social Media

Sections make it really easy to bundle like items together, and you can then share them on social media platforms. Just click on a Section in your publicly visible Etsy storefront and then copy the URL in the box at the top. Use these clickable Section URL links to promote a group of products you have in your shop on your Facebook, Twitter, and more.

4. To Promote Sale Items

Lastly, you can use Sections to promote your products that are on sale or clearance. This is perfect for items that you want to discount because they haven’t sold or those that you are discontinuing. Make a Section called something like “Clearance,” “Sale,” or “Last Chance” to entice bargain shoppers. You can only put a listing in one Section, so these items would not be included with the other similar kinds of products in your store.

How to Create and Edit Sections:

To make and adjust your Shop Sections, go to the Listings Manager on the desktop (standard) version of Etsy. Click on “Filter” and then “Sections” to sort, or “Manage” to edit and rearrange the order of them. You can also view your items by Section on the Sell on Etsy smartphone or iPad apps, and edit or delete them on an individual listing. When you are creating a new listing you will get a choice of Section to add that item to on the Edit page.

A shop gets up to fifteen different Sections (and also one that includes “All” items), so choose them wisely. Each Section can be as much as 24 characters long. Existing Sections that don’t currently contain any items are not publicly visible to customers, but you can see them when you are editing. On the desktop version, the text of the inactive, empty ones will be gray while Sections with items will be black and show the number of listings within.

Why else do you love the Shop Sections feature?
